2013第26屆世界盃青棒錦標賽明天起在台中洲際棒球場、台中棒球場、斗六棒球場三個球場開打。今年有12個國家、選手參賽，中華隊首戰在今天晚間7點，將出戰墨西哥。暌違9年台灣才再度取得主辦權，選手們說，「希望把冠軍留在台灣」。

台中市政府今年協助主辦，雖然天候不佳，強調比賽如期開打，賽程為期10天，冠軍賽在9月8日。

這次賽事首次採用棒球分齡賽制，參賽隊伍分別為Ａ組中華台北、加拿大、捷克、日本、墨西哥及委內瑞拉；Ｂ組成員有古巴、美國、韓國、澳洲、哥倫比亞及義大利。
